GYMNASTICS IN UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMESOF PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITIES OF RIO GRANDE DO SUL

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to diagnose the School Gymnastics (SG) in Undergraduate Programmes of Physical Education in the federal universities of Rio Grande do Sul. The research it is characterized as descriptive and the sample included the participation of five universities. In data collection, document available on the websites of the courses were analyzed, and semi-structured interviews were conducted with teachers responsible for SG of disciplines in universities. The results showed that the SG disciplines represent 1.6% of all curriculum components for the scientific-cultural content. Nonexistent education and extension projects focused on SG, and the scientific production of teachers responsible for SG disciplines, was also small. Is possible to highlight the weaknesses found relating to SG and can reflect negatively influence the formation of academics and consequently the reality of SG in schools.
