A synopsis of the genus Xylergates Bates, 1864 is presented. The following synonym is established: Xylergatina Gilmour, 1962 = Xylergates Bates, 1864 and the new reinstatement of Xylergates pulcher Lane, 1957. A new species from Espírito Santo (Brazil) is described, Xylergates capixaba. A key to species is added.
