Relation between equipment and cultural politics of Minas Gerais municipalities and fundraising through the State Culture Incentive Law

Abstract

This article analyzes the factors that influence fundraising through the State Culture Incentive Law (LEIC) in the municipalities of Minas Gerais, Brazil. To this end, we conducted a quantitative research, in which information was collected and analyzed for 2014 regarding fundraising via LEIC and cultural indicators, using descriptive statistics and logistic regression instruments. The results show that there was a massive concentration of resources in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, in addition to a concentration of funds raised for the Music area. By the proposed model, we noticed that the existence of museums, theatres, and cinemas in the municipalities increases the chances of fundraising by law. We concluded that the existence of a minimum of cultural infrastructure can favor fundraising through LEIC, and noticed a disconnection between LEIC and other forms of cultural promotion in the municipalities.
