Topics and analysis reference points in Bioethics in undergraduate teaching of naturology in Brazil, in the light of social bioethics

This study discusses topics and analysis reference points in bioethics that are present in undergraduate teaching of naturology in Brazil, in the light of social bioethics. The study was based on a qualitative-descriptive approach and was conducted in two Brazilian universities, using document analysis and fieldwork. The data collected were subjected to thematic content analysis. The resulting five categories displayed a variety of topics and reference points for analyses in bioethics that are present in teaching naturology. The bioethics topics most often found related to issues of a therapeutic and ecological nature. Regarding the reference points for bioethics analysis, the following perspectives were identified: caring, naturalistic, virtues, principialist, deontological and social. It was observed that the approach to sociopolitical issues was minor and insufficient, and that there was a need to broaden the social bioethics perspective in the teaching and learning process of the naturology course.
