Reorienting dental education: the preceptor’s view of supervised internship in the Brazilian Health System (SUS).

The insertion of the preceptor in the process of dental education brings a new perspective to the teaching-learning process. The goal of this research was to understand the preceptor’s perception of supervised internships. This was a qualitative study which collected data from a focus group of preceptors. To interpret the data, we used Bardin content analysis. The preceptor reported that shares with students are important to strengthen the bond with the community, reaching also a population that does not attend the service; in addition to the diversification and strengthening of the actions developed. Preceptors understand the integration of teaching and service as a potentiating tool of the actions already developed and the importance of building a learning environment that gives space for reflection and action planning.
