First record of Lysuraceae Corda (Phallales, Basidiomycota, Fungi) from Northeastern Brazil

ABSTRACT

The family Lysuraceae Corda (Phallales) includes gasteroid fungal species that have pseudostipitate basidiome with differentiated receptacle, and mucilaginous gleba that exhales a foul odor like decomposing meat. Specimens of Lysurus sphaerocephalum (Schltdl.) Hern. Caff. et al. were collected in the State of Bahia (Brazil), photographed, and preserved at Herbarium HVC. The family is reported here for the first time from the Brazilian Northeastern Region. Photographs and comments are presented for the examined material.
