Native bamboos (Poaceae, Bambusoideae) in the Parque Estadual das Fontes do Ipiranga, São Paulo, São Paulo State, Brazil

A floristic survey of the native bamboos in Parque Estadual das Fontes do Ipiranga (PEFI), São Paulo, São Paulo State, Brazil is presented. Forty-one field excursions were undertaken (January 2010 through September 2011). Identification keys, descriptions, illustrations, distribution, phenology, popular names and an evaluation of the conservation status of each species are provided. Five genera and 17 species were recorded. The genus with the highest number of species is Merostachys (9 spp.), followed by Chusquea (3) and Olyra (3). Aulonemia and Parodiolyra are both represented by a single species. Merostachys burmanii,M. scandens,M. skvortzovii and Olyra loretensis are considered endangered in the São Paulo State.
