Synopsis of Malpighiaceae from the municipality of Cunha corroborates the occurrence of cerrado fragments in the Paraíba river valley, State of São Paulo, Brazil.

ABSTRACT

The analysis of fieldwork and herbarium collections made possible the recognition of ten genera and 19 species of Malpighiaceae in the municipality of Cunha, State of São Paulo, Brazil. This study presents an identification key for the species, lists of examined specimens, taxonomic notes, and photographic images for the studied species. This paper also presents the first occurrence of Stigmaphyllon acuminatum for the State of São Paulo. Additionally, we present a discussion on the evidence provided by Malpighiaceae corroborating the occurrence of past and present cerrado fragments within the Paraíba River Valley.
