Dissident reports, scenarios of discord: (Auto)biographies of a ex-internal and two employees of Febem/SP

Abstract

The text analyzes the conditions of historical emergence of the (auto)biographical accounts of Cleonder Evangelista, a young former inmate of the Fundação Estadual do Bem-Estar do Menor in São Paulo (Febem/SP), and Paulo Sergio Farias and Laércio Narciso, two former employees of the institution. It operates with discourse analysis, dividing the approach into three moments: description of the institutional and social scenario marked by crises, denunciations and rebellions between the 1990s and 2000s through the repercussion in the press; problematization of the crossed autobiography of two ex-employees and their criticisms and propositions to the policy of detention of juvenile offenders; analysis of the autobiographical account of a former inmate in its articulation with the report of the employees, mapping the encounter and the interference they had in the construction of a resocialization project through access to higher education under special conditions. From the (auto)biographical narratives, it was possible to map information about FEBEM’s daily life, both in terms of violence and the formation of cooperation networks, something difficult to find in official or press records that, over the years, have documented some stories about Febem/SP, but with different approaches to the story told here.
