Catholicism and feminine work: an approximation from the Buenos Aires South West Region Press at the beginning of the XXth Century

In this paper it is analysed the gender representations of the feminine work in the catholic press that are present in Bahía Blanca (Buenos Aires Province, Argentina) and its influence region during the three first decades of the XXth Century. In the paper it is shown how Catholics share the notion of hegemonic sexual differences and analyse the problem of the women work focusing in the motherhood and domesticity ideas, but they reformulate them in front of the new processes of modernization. In this way, the catholic press presents some ideas that, even if they are not intended to subvert the gender relations, they support some changes in the feminine condition that are aligned with the modern times.
