Demos with the colossus on the ground: the decline of José Bonifácio and the political rise of Aureliano Coutinho in the pages of the newspaper "A Verdade" (The Truth)

This paper analyzes the campaign started by Aureliano José Bonifácio Coutinho from the tutoring of the future Emperor Pedro II, started through his newspaper "A Verdade" (The Truth) between 1832 and 1834. It indicates how this action was decisive for the political career of Aureliano, future Viscount of Sepetiba, in order to achieve preeminence palace in the Brazilian imperial court.
