Spatial Dimensions between Death, Memory and Emotional Experiences: A Case Study in the Light of the Octavian Mausoleum

ABSTRACT

The article focuses on the analysis of the spatial dimensions between death, memory and emotional experiences in the light of Octavian Mausoleum. Having started construction in 29 B.C., when he disputed his political power with Marcus Antonius and Cleopatra, he produced a political language with a more dramatic bias associated with the mores maiorum. Starting from these observations, the proposal deals with spaces and places, because, at the same time, the necropolis and funerary building produced images directed at the community of Rome about the political, sacred and emotional aspects.
