When historical consciousness is the organizational consciousness: political training and teaching of History within the MST

This article aims to analyze the relationship between historical consciousness and organizational consciousness of the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST), considering the role played by the study of history to form political cadres in a period that the social movement was being consolidated. Over the years, MST media and course books became tools to spread political representations, which allow us to understand how the social movement provided meaning to the past as well as to history teaching within the organization. This is an approach about representations that designed the primary functions of historical consciousness and history teaching in the rural landless workers mobilization.
