ABSTRACT
This research seeks to investigate conformations of horse racing practices in the social space of Santa Cruz do Sul/Rio Grande do Sul in the first decade of the 20th century. Based on historical and sociocultural precepts, evidence in printed documents were analyzed, especially the Kolonie newspaper. From the comparison and interpretation of evidence, we ponder on a configuration coined by the dynamic dependencies of people who organized themselves around horse-centered practices, establishing sociocultural relations, balanced in approximations and detachments on notions of identity and class.
