BODY AND CINEMATOGRAPHIC TECHNIQUES IN INFORMATIVE DOCUMENTARY CINEMA. PHYSICAL CULTURE AND SUBJECTIVITY EDUCATION IN “SUCESOS ARGENTINOS”

Abstract

The aim of this research is to question the visual and narrative discourses developed in documentary informational cinema especially during the second quarter of the 20th century, particularly in those films whose object was to project meanings on bodily practices. In this sense, the idea is to understand motion pictures that show bodies in movements conceived as correct, with special emphasis on massive gymnastic exhibitions and Physical Education classes. This leads to the interpretation of two articulated senses about the techniques: the cinematographic techniques used to reproduce aesthetics and political meanings, with the aim of its reproduction, and the corporal techniques that are projected on the screen as a configuration of a legitimated idea of a correct-normal body.
