La dansarina: the influenza epidemic and the quotidian report of Rio de Janeiro city

The article analyzes the psychological and social impacts that the 1918 influenza epidemic had within Rio de, Janeiro, as registered in the city'spress - a choice perspective from which to reconstruct the history of this experience. The epidemic is explored as a cultural and social phenomenon having to do with collective attitudes and representations regarding disease and death.
