In this examination of contemporary society’s institutional configurations as seen from the perspective of post-modernity theories, the article identifies two major characterizations-the society of images and the society of knowledge-and delineates the social structures found within these conceptions. It points to the pertinence of the debate regarding post-modernity and the fertility of related issues.
