Besides commenting on the boundaries between physics and physical chemistry, this article tries to depict the relationship between these two sciences by considering the professional history of some physicists and physical chemists from 1920 to 1980. It also focus on the role played by the extinct Faculdade Nacional de Filosofia da Universidade do Brasil as a strong integration element for students and professors from different fields of studies in Rio de Janeiro.
