Environments and substrates to produce cherry tomato seedlings and yield of fruits

Emergence parameters were evaluated for seedling development and yield of fruits of three tomato cultivars (Pêra Amarela, Pêra Vermelha and Carolina) under protected environments and different substrates. A greenhouse and a nursery with 50% monofilament shading were used. In these environments, the following substrates were tested: 50% cassava foliage (F) + 50% Vida Verde(r) (V), 50% cassava foliage + 50% cattle manure (C), 50% cassava foliage + 50% poultry manure (P), 25% cassava foliage + 25% Vida Verde(r) + 25% poultry manure + 25% cattle manure for the three evaluated cultivars. The best seedlings were grown in the F+C and F+V+C+P substrates, reaching the quality index of 0.0069. Both environments are indicated for the formation of seedlings with the use of the F+V+C+P mixture, producing seedlings weighing 0.0463 g of dry mass. Cultivar Carolina presented growth parameters and vigor, being the best cultivar, with a diameter and height ratio of 2.38. The same substrates that formed the best seedlings also promoted higher fruit yield per plant, with an average of 23.11 g/fruit and diameter of 20.64 mm. The best environment for fruit production was the nursery with F+C and F+V+C+P substrates. Substrates containing 50% poultry manure or 50% Vida Verde(r) are not recommended
