The “Afro-indigenous” category in the Pará Amazon: uses, confluences and ambivalences in academic debate

Abstract

The path to the afro-indigenous debate breaks with the reductionist analysis of the perception of the idea of afro and indigenous as biological miscegenation. The objective is to bring as a debate the category present in academic studies (dissertations and theses) and imposes in the affirmation of a non-abstract category referred to black from the African Diaspora and indigenous ancestry, activated as a reference of cultural practices in academic productions in the uses of a lot of meaning, points of tension and even the refutation.
