Evolutionary Epistemology - a heuristic for communication

Abstract

The paper reflects on the possibility for transferring the procedural logic of Darwin’s evolution of species to scientific knowledge and other social processes; indicates critical proposition to a purely analog transference and the existence of diversified models of application of the Darwinian paradigm to science processes; and proposes a heuristic extraction from Darwin's discoveries and from explanatory and prescriptive experiences of evolutionary epistemology. On these bases, it also presents a perception of the procedural logic of transformation and continuity as a suitable heuristic for knowledge development, as well as for other social processes in which non-deterministic forms of development are perceived. In conclusion, it indicates the possibility of activating this heuristic for communication studies.
