Quilombo Sopapo: ethnographic approach of “Living Culture” center

Abstract

This article presents elements of an ethnographic research carried out at a Culture Point in the city of Porto Alegre / RS. In addition of the discussion of the term “culture” and its implications in the analysis of the field of Public Policy, articulations with theories from Psychology and other human sciences are listed to elaborate an implied approximation. It presents a field experience and reports of interlocutors, illustrating processes experienced in ethnography. The study focuses on the conjunctural analysis of the Culture Point, its institutional aspects and, especially, the crossings of these in the materialized work in the organization. The present ethnographic incursion points to the existence of a series of conceptions of popular culture and work developments in Public Policies of Culture. In addition, we observe as subjective factors in this between the cultural fruition and the role of activism as an identity element - matrix made possible by the “Living Culture” policy.
