Cooperation, reliability and work safety

Abstract

This article analyzes the collective dimension of work, with a specific focus on questions related to cooperation. In doing so, it relies primarily on material originating from Activity Ergonomics and the Work Psychodynamics. This discussion is shown to be relevant when observing that certain forms of organization of work and production, some considered innovative, often create obstacles to processes of cooperation and contribute to the fragmentation of work collectives. Finally, the objectives of the analysis are the complex sociotechnical systems (within the context of the oil sector) that demonstrate the relevance of cooperation as one of the elements that support productivity/quality and the preservation of health and safety in the workplace.
