Strategic Planning for the Hardwood Flooring Sector

ABSTRACT

The National Hardwood Flooring Association (ANPM), in order to provide bases for the sector growth, started the formulation of its strategic planning. Sequential meetings were held with member companies, grouped according to geographical location, aiming to gather information and prepare guidelines which were deployed into goals and action plans. From the discussions, it was prepared a preliminary list of scenarios and difficulties inherent to the flooring activity. Based on this assessment, a Strategic Planning was proposed, focused on the perception of ANPM’s associates and on the actions that ANPM could develop to meet the identified needs. Based on results, four action strategies were defined: improving the image of the sector; strengthening the productive performance of the enterprises; enhancing the institutional representation; and monitoring the market developments. These strategies were deployed into actions and consolidated in tools for controlling and monitoring the wood flooring industry.
