This article is lhe second of a series presenting some considerations on the relations between information and communication technologies, education organizations and values and lhe academic work of the teacher. The main purpose ofthis article is to discuss some consequences of information and communication tecnologies, particulary those related to lhe use of the computer in academic work. In arder to have a more comprehensive understanding of the subject, the text is divided into three parts: i) the importance of work in human life; ii) the values related to academic work and iii) the use of computers in education.
