Mental and kinetic imagery among athletes of collective and individual sports

The purpose of the present study was to compare levels of mental and kinetic practice among young athletes involved in collective and individual sports. The independent variables were: level of school attendance, years of sports practice. Having been subjected to a program of mental training was used as thee inclusion criteria in the sampling procedure. The sample consisted of 366 individuals (152 females and 214 males). The average age was 20.29 years. These subjects were divided into groups according to the independent variables of this study. For the school levei there were 205 individuais in lhe group "UT" (50 famels and 155 males) and 161 subjects in lhe group "12A" (102 remates and 59 males). When organized according to lhe type of sport, 117athletes practiced a collective sport (44 remates and 73 males) and lhe individual sports group consisted of 143 subjects (31 remates and 112 males). The results showed that there were statistical significant differences between lhe sexes for mental imagery. There were also significant differences between lhe groups according to lhe years of practice. These results tend to confirm some of lhe previous research published in this scientific area, however lhe arguments that we use to explain some lhe values obtained differ from lhe known literature.
