THIRTY YEARS OF A FETISHISTIC TEXT: MARIANO FERNÁNDEZ ENGUITA AND THE PROLETARIANIZATION OF WORK

ABSTRACT

The objective of this article is to analyze the conception of the proletarianization of work promoted by the sociologist Mariano Fernández Enguita, an author who found a place among Brazilian researchers. The text is based on the sociology of work, particularly going back to the theoretical and epistemological issues of the debate on the qualification of work. It outlines the basic aspects of the proletarianization thesis, seeks to identify its backgrounds and the theoretical framework that supports it, finding its roots in nineteenth-century economic romanticism. In conclusion, it presents a synthesis of what was discussed and points to the importance of better understanding the qualification of work, especially by the perspective proposed by Pierre Naville.
