ABSTRACT
This article opens the new section Education, race, gender, and sexual diversity to be included in the periodical Educação & Sociedade in 2023. It discusses the importance of that section and the intersectional approach of the concepts by the presentation of issues as economic and social inequalities, discrimination, and violence, and how this complexity is expressed in education. It argues that this analysis has enabled new and thought-provoking reflections for a better understanding of the educational phenomenon and discusses the importance of scientific dissemination of theoretical productions that address such concepts in the field of education.
