RACIAL EQUALITY AND AFFIRMATIVE ACTIONS IN ARGENTINA AND BRAZIL

ABSTRACT

The discussion focuses on racial equality policies and affirmative action developed in Brazil and Argentina. It analyses the context of racial relations in both countries, with the construction of white hegemony and restrictions on citizenship for Afro-descendant populations. It discusses the forms of affirmative action for the Afro-descendant population carried out in the two countries. In Brazil, it discusses general results of affirmative actions derived from the teaching of African and afro-Brazilian history and culture defined by the LDB and affirmative actions developed in higher education. In Argentina, it reflects on two chairs aimed at Afro-descendant populations. It discusses the points of convergence and the particularities of race relations and affirmative action in both countries.
