ABSTRACT
The paper analyzes the nine issues of the educational magazine “L’Educatore” (1880), published in Buenos Aires for the schools of the Italian mutual aid societies of the city. Directed by the Italian teachers Pietro Bertazzoni and Lorenzo Fazio, “L’Educatore” leads to reflect on the strategies used by teachers in a markedly migratory context. Its bilingualism, its “mixed” curriculum and its lay and republican orientation allow to resize the nationalist and expansionist image built on Italian education abroad between 19th and 20th centuries.
