Abstract
This article aims to discuss the compulsory hospitalization of adolescent drug users in a mental health service in the city of Porto Alegre/RS from the notion of Bio-politics, proposed by Michel Foucault. So, first, we describe the process of compulsory hospitalization and the passages of young people in the service, and thus we move to the analysis of compulsory hospitalization as a strategy of governmentalization of life. This analysis leads to the denaturalization of contemporary state actions directed to adolescent's drug users and the crossings market interests operating in the context of this policy. Finally, we point to the suspension of the universal elements that permeate the theme of drugs as a possibility to break off the standards of care placed in the health field.
