To this end, a theoretical basis was built from studies that analyzed practices, characteristics and difficulties of the formation of mediators developed in museums and science centers. Qualitative, the research used Content Analysis to explore the data collected from questionnaires answered by project mediators and semi-structured interviews with one of the coordinators. The results indicate that the formation occurs predominantly with the beginner mediator formed by another more experienced in field activities. Moreover, there were difficulties with the manipulation of equipment and in training activities, in addition to the temporary nature of the mediator’s bond in the project. Finally, notes are made with the intention of overcoming some difficulties common to the training of mediators.
