ABSTRACT
The article talks about the Catholic Church’s strategy and doctrine to build Christ’s Social Kingdom during the pontificates of Leon XIII and Pius XI. The aim is to offer a political context for Alceu Amoroso Lima’s arguments in favor of a Nation’s Organic Constitution, the project that guided Brazilian Catholics’ demands in the 1933-4 Constituent Assembly. The research used bibliographical and documental sources, in addition to a contextual and conceptual analysis of the material researched.
