Nurse Lieselotte Hoeschl Ornellas and the appearance of nutricionist's profession

Historical-social study about the history of life of a pioneer Nurse in the nutrition area in Brazil. Object: the life's history of Lieselotte Hoeschl Ornellas. Objective: to elaborate biographical note; to comment on her professional contribution. Primary sources: documents of Cedoc/EEAN/UFRJ and statements for her granted. Methodology: the datas were ordered chronological and thematically and analyzed according to the objectives. Results: Lieselotte, belonging to the German colony of Santa Catarina, to the 21 years, newly-graduated by EAN, to assist to the necessities of the curriculum of School, she was indicated to do nutritionist's course. By a scholarship, she was gradueted at the National Institute of Nutrition Teacher Escudero, in Argentina, in the period 1940-1943. Going to back EAN, she started to teach the disciplines of Nutrition and Dietary, leading, at the same time, the service of Nutrition of the Hospital of the Servants of the State, considered model to Latin America. For 66 years LHO gave a singular contribution for the nursing and for the nutrition, reason for which will be included in "Who is Who in the History of Brazilian Nursing", of Nuphebras/EEAN.
