The study aimed to know the feelings and emotions experienced by nursing professionals that had accident with perforating material in a state public hospital, trough a descriptive research that involved 13 professionals, during the months from January trough April of 2004. Was noticed that the occurrence of work accidents with perforating materials could happen because of a hard work, made in a fast way, in more then one health establishment, such as by the lack of attention and distraction. The fear before the alteration in their life style, before the proximity of death and the prejudice to be experienced in their familiar, social and work environment, caused by a possible HIV virus and B hepatitis contamination, was the feeling manifested after a accident with a perforating material by the majority interviewed. It points the training in the service, the technician improvement and the professional actualization developed by the continued education sector as important to the minimization of the risks of work accidents.
