Representation of the getting sick process of children and teenagers with oncologic diseases together with family

The study has as subject describe the instability that the cancer diagnosis in young people causes in the families, representation of the diagnosis in children, teenagers and the families, the behavior of the nurses' team in the family perception, in the Onco-Hematology Unit of HINCH. Results showed that 20% of the families were desperate, 21% afraid of death, 39% sympathy, 22% jealous, 19% disdain, 56% daily life altered. The impacts caused involve, besides physical, psychosocial and financial, causing changes, which overload the ones who have to take care, creating instability in social and family life. As for the nursing team behavior before the family, 90% are solidarity and polite, in relation to attending the clients' complaints, 76% of the staff clarifies doubts and solicitations. It was concluded that a nursing assistance related to the humanization during the treatment of this type of client, extensive to their families, is significant.
