This paper presents a point of view on concept and meanings pertaining to Hospital Nursing, having as aim and objective to foster discussions of interest to research nuclei and groups of nursing researchers associated to knowledge production on hospital environments. The methodological approach with no further pretensions is simply descriptive, nonetheless theoretically based in nursing literature. From a critical perspective, the author does not intend to be all-inclusive, but to highlight epistemological aspects that are of specific fundamental propositions, related to nursing basic principles, and that match a personal and professional perspective of a nurse in relation to what is understood as the roots and canons of the Modern Nursing Nightingale System.
