ACCESSIBLE MUSEUM FOR PEOPLE WITH VISUAL DISABILITIES: A CASE STUDY OF BARCELONA’S MUSEUMS

Abstract

Accessibility and its different subtypes are defined at the outset of the text: the architectural, sensory, communication and socio-cultural. Museum accessibility for persons with visual disabilities is then described, with a focus on audio description and tactile resources, using museums in Barcelona as an example. The text closes with some reflections on how to make a museum more accessible.
