Cesta básica nordestina: oferta e demanda

In this paper, a projection of supply and demand of supplies that compose the minimal food requirement in Northeast Brazil, offered by the VII th BSAN (Brazilian Symposium on Alimentation and Nutrition), concerning the nutritional profile of the regional population is presented. The methodological procedures were based on the annual increase of the population and on the regional availability of supplies. The period studied is from 1970 to 1980. The menu considered was that of advised by the VIIth BSAN, according to the nutritional suggestions of FAO 75. The menu was adapted to the demand of the regional average populational requirements and based on the ENDEF's food list. Results indicate to Federal and State governments the food supply needed. This amount should guide agricultural planning, suggesting measures to change present food production patterns.
