This article reports the way in which we are evolving towards a solution for health and environmental problems in Guapimirim (Rio de Janeiro, Brasil). Our goal is being achieved trough an interdisciplinary study and through a partnership, which is gradually getting concepts and praxis proposed by contemporary theorists to deal with complexity, uncertainty and evaluation. The concepts of "post-normal science", "extended peer community" and "transdisciplinarity" were basic to our understanding of the scientific experience in course at the Municipality and to the proposals for its continuity.
