RACIAL PROFILE OF TEACHERS AND EDUCATION FOR ETHNIC-RACIAL RELATIONS

Abstract

This article aims to understand whether the presence of black male and female professionals influences the racial approach in the political pedagogical project and teaching plans of four schools, two with a higher percentage of white male and female teachers and two with a higher percentage of black male and female teachers, in the city of São Paulo. The data analyzed showed that: (i) in general, the pedagogical documents still do not recognize the structural importance of the racial issue; (ii) the presence of black male and female teachers has little impact on the incorporation of the issue into the pedagogical political projects; and (iii) the teaching of Afro-Brazilian and African history and culture has been carried out by a minority group of teachers.
