Online feminist activism in Brazil: contributions to an ongoing agenda

Abstract:

This article aims to analyze the relationship between feminisms and digital media in the context of the expansion of Internet access in Brazil. From the developments that took place in the last decade, we are interested in understanding how new repertoires of feminist activism are constructed in digital networks, focusing on socio-technical, technological and political transformations. The empirical material results from two qualitative researches, based on semi-structured interviews, carried out with feminist activists from the cities of Londrina and Rio de Janeiro, combined with the monitoring of interactions on social networks. The research findings point to a (re) configuration of political practice in which the promise of digital takes into account the events that arose after the June 2013 journeys in Brazil.
