Reflexes of social isolation in the pandemic period for youth

Abstract

The article analyzes the impacts of the pandemic on young students and graduates of high school in schools in Rio Grande do Sul. With reports of their experiences in social isolation it is apprehended which issues are relevant at that moment; it was carried out 44 online interviews with young people aged 15 to 23 years in three cities: Caxias do Sul, Pelotas and Porto Alegre, from October 2020 to April 2021. The guiding question of the analysis was the perception about the pandemic period for their lives. The interviews had narrative focuses, addressing the themes of self-analysis, remote learning, family rearrangements, changes at work and forms of interaction. It was perceived the change of sociability patterns, usually with negative perception about the current moment, the difficulty in changing face-to-face relationships to virtual ones, especially in the educational aspect, the feeling of isolation and financial difficulties.
