Digital literacy and teacher participation in Basic Education: a discussion about the relationships with university extension

Abstract

By understanding participation as a process of people getting involved and engaged in projects with the community in a situated manner, sharing objectives, and by understanding university extension as the exchange of knowledge, we propose in this article an analysis of teachers’ digital literacy. To this end, we discuss the participation of teachers in an extension project through the markers university extension and teacher participation, from a thematic coding, while observing the background, the interactions between people, the strategies used, and the consequences and results in the project. What was found after the analysis was that university extension is one of the ways that promote teachers' digital literacy through projects; that participatory practices in extension projects allow people to be part of developmental processes; and that extension projects do not always involve teachers wholly.
