ABSTRACT
This paper analyses the direct sowing as an establishment technique, for Pinus taeda comparativelly with planted seedlings of the same age, considering the root system structure evaluation. The root system morphology, developed from seeds in place, presented no deformation while those developed from planted seedlings, showed bad horizontal distribution and lateral root deformation, which could affect the future development of the tree.
