Fibrous thermal insulations: reasons of its use as a wear lining in industrial equipment which work at high temperatures - a review - part II

Abstract

Thermal insulations are one of the most important tools for achieving energy conservation and productivity increase in some industrial equipment which operate at high temperatures. In this paper, three inorganic wools-based products were evaluated: refractory ceramic fibers (RCF), alkaline-earth silicate fibers (AES) and polycrystalline fibers (PCW). To achieve the goals already mentioned, this document was divided into three sections. At the first step, one thermal heat balance was developed to fibrous medium. At the second part, physical reasons that explain microstructure interaction with thermal radiation were presented. At the last part, parameters and physical characteristics of the three products were presented, proving the reasons of their use.
