Processing and structural, microstructural and ferroelectric characterizations of the magnetoelectric BiFeO3-PbTiO3 compound obtained by Pechini method

Abstract

In this work an alternative synthesis route, the modified Pechini method, was used to obtain nanoparticles of the BiFeO3-PbTiO3 (BFPT) compound. The scanning electron microscopy images revealed particle sizes below 120 nm. Structural analysis showed the structural organization of the compound (structure formation with tetragonal symmetry) as function of synthesis temperature. Calculations indicate spontaneous polarization intensity achieved in the BFPT compound. The analysis of electron density obtained by the maximum entropy method indicated the configuration of the chemical bonds present in the compound.
