COVID-19 PANDEMIC: lens to understand the economy-health spiral

This article discusses the economy-health relationship through the lens of the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on a historical materialistic approach to reality, we investigate the interfaces of such relationship using data from the pandemic period. It also addresses the impacts of the neoliberal process of globalization of capital on healthcare; the consolidation of the industrial/financial-medical complex and how it was nourished by the pandemic; and the process of social determination of health , which explains the ontologically constructed economy-health relationship, including the specificities of the pandemic. Such an approach refutes a linear understanding of the economy-health relationship, revealing its spiral dynamics.
