Individual development, consciousness and alienation: the human being in A. N. Leontyev's psychology

In this paper, the implications of Leontyev's psychology on the current educational practices are analyzed highlighting three main areas of focus: human individual development and its differences from animal ontogenesis; the relations between the structure of consciousness and that of activity; and the social and historical phenomenon of alienation.
