Abstract:
The article analyzes the education reforms, the adoption of managerial practices and policies focused on targets and indicators and their implications on the daily work of public schools and universities. Considerations arising from qualitative research that aimed to analyze the effects of these policies in teachers' labor relations, health and subjectivity are presented. We discuss the contextual and ideological aspects involving the transposition of concepts from the private-business sector to educational institutions, such as autonomy, quality, goals and productivity. We highlight some of the National Education Plan (NEP) goals (2014-2024) in order to examine their alignment with management measures and heteronomous evaluation models. We consider that different perspectives of education as well as teacher education tend to be overcome by an institutional logic based on productive sociability. We also point out that the connection of educational institutions to the instrumental rationality contributes to the production of conflicts, frustrations, suffering and stress and/or teacher illness.
